12 The ^‍burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.

Thus saith Jehovah, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him: ² Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling unto all the peoples round about, and upon Judah also shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem. ³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it. ⁴ In that day, saith Jehovah, I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness; and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness. ⁵ And the chieftains of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in Jehovah of hosts their God. ⁶ In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem. ⁷ Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah. ⁸ In that day shall Jehovah defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of Jehovah before them. ⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born. ¹¹ In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. ¹² And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; ¹³ the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart; ¹⁴ all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

13 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness. ² And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. ³ And it shall come to pass that, when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of Jehovah; and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. ⁴ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he prophesieth; neither shall they wear a hairy mantle to deceive: ⁵ but he shall say, I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground; for I have been made a bondman from my youth. ⁶ And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds between thine arms? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my ^‍friends.

‍

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith Jehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand upon the little ones. ⁸ And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith Jehovah, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. ⁹ And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.

19 After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,

Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God: ² for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, her that corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his ^‍servants at her hand.

‍

³ And a second time they say, Hallelujah. And her smoke goeth up ^‍for ever and ever. ⁴ And the four and twenty elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God that sitteth on the throne, saying, Amen; Hallelujah. ⁵ And a voice came forth from the throne, saying,

‍

Give praise to our God, all ye his servants, ye that fear him, the small and the great.

‍

⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying,

‍

Hallelujah: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigneth. ⁷ Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. ⁸ And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

‍

⁹ And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they that are bidden to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are true words of God. ¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹¹ And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. ¹² And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself. ¹³ And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. ¹⁶ And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come and be gathered together unto the great supper of God; ¹⁸ that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great.

¹⁹ And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone: ²¹ and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Praise for Jerusalem’s restoration and prosperity.

^‍147 Praise ye Jehovah;
^‍For it is good to sing praises unto our God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is comely.
² Jehovah doth build up Jerusalem;
He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
³ He healeth the broken in heart,
And bindeth up their ^‍wounds.
⁴ He counteth the number of the stars;
He calleth them all by their names.
⁵ Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.
⁶ Jehovah upholdeth the meek:
He bringeth the wicked down to the ground.
⁷ Sing unto Jehovah with thanksgiving;
Sing praises upon the harp unto our God,
⁸ Who covereth the heavens with clouds,
Who prepareth rain for the earth,
Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
⁹ He giveth to the beast his food,
And to the young ravens which cry.
¹⁰ He delighteth not in the strength of the horse:
He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.
¹¹ Jehovah taketh pleasure in them that fear him,
In those that hope in his lovingkindness.
¹² Praise Jehovah, O Jerusalem;
Praise thy God, O Zion.
¹³ For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates;
He hath blessed thy children within thee.
¹⁴ He maketh peace in thy borders;
He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
¹⁵ He sendeth out his commandment upon earth;
His word runneth very swiftly.
¹⁶ He giveth snow like wool;
He scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes.
¹⁷ He casteth forth his ice like morsels:
Who can stand before his cold?
¹⁸ He sendeth out his word, and melteth them:
He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
¹⁹ He showeth his word unto Jacob,
His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel.
²⁰ He hath not dealt so with any nation;
And as for his ordinances, they have not known them.

31 The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

‍

² What, my son? and what, O son of my womb?
And what, O son of my vows?
³ Give not thy strength unto women,
Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine;
Nor for princes to say, Where is strong drink?
⁵ Lest they drink, and forget the law,
And pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted.
⁶ Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish,
And wine unto the bitter in soul:
⁷ Let him drink, and forget his poverty,
And remember his misery no more.
