Tender, glossy candied apples coated in a spicy-sweet syrup made with red-hot candies, perfect for a fun and colorful dessert or snack.

Ingredients

4 cups water

2 cups granulated sugar

¾ cup red-hot candies

Several drops red food coloring (optional)

6 to 9 firm, tart cooking apples, peeled and cored

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, combine water, sugar, red-hot candies, and food coloring, if desired. Cook and stir over low heat until candies are dissolved. Add apples. Simmer, uncovered, 20 to 30 minutes or until tender, turning apples over once and spooning liquid over occasionally.
