Chewy Caramel-Oatmeal Bars

Soft, chewy, and irresistibly rich, these caramel-oatmeal bars combine buttery oats, melted chocolate, and smooth caramel for a decadent dessert that’s as comforting as it is indulgent.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups quick oats

1½ cups packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1½ cups unsalted butter, melted

1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips

1 (11-ounce) package Kraft caramel bits

¼ cup 2% reduced-fat milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in melted butter until well combined. Refrigerate half of the mixture.
  2. Press remaining oats mixture in bottom of a 13×9-inch baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips; set aside.
  3. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, place caramel bits and milk. Microwave on HIGH for 2 to 3 minutes or until caramels are melted, stirring every 30 seconds. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate chips in pan. Sprinkle with reserved oats mixture.
  4. 4. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. To serve, cut into bars.
