Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup plus 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided
2 teaspoons orange zest
½ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
Sugar crystals, for garnish
Purchased pink frosting, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 325°F.
In a mixing bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium for 30 seconds. Add ½ cup powdered sugar, orange zest, ginger and cinnamon; beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in flour until well mixed, kneading if necessary until smooth.
Force dough through a cookie press onto a lightly floured cookie sheet.
Bake for 18 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool completely. Sift remaining powdered sugar on spritz. Sprinkle with sugar crystals. If desired, create cookie sandwiches by adding a layer of pink frosting in between two cookies.
