Simple Cranberry Sauce

A fresh and zesty cranberry sauce made with cranberries, orange juice, and zest—quick to prepare and full of holiday flavor.

Ingredients

¾ cup granulated sugar

½ cup water

4 cups fresh cranberries or 1 (16-ounce) bag frozen cranberries, divided

2 tablespoons orange zest, plus additional for garnish

¼ cup fresh orange juice

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water; bring to boiling. Add 2 cups cranberries; return to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until cranberries pop and sauce thickens.
  2. Stir in remaining 2 cups cranberries, 2 tablespoons orange zest and orange juice. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with additional orange zest, if desired.
