Easy Blueberry Sauce

A simple, sweet blueberry sauce made with fresh berries, lemon, and sugar, ideal for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.

Ingredients

2 cups fresh blueberries

½ to 1 cup sugar, to taste

¼ cup water

½ teaspoon grated lemon zest

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, water and lemon zest and juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally. As blueberries begin to pop, bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 to 10 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
  2. Cool. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
