Grilled Sweet Corn

By
Test Kitchen
Summer 2009
Sweet corn husks brushed with butter and oil, grilled until tender and lightly charred for a smoky, juicy flavor. Perfect for backyard barbecues or family meals.

Recipe Information

Total Time:
Yield:
6 servings

Ingredients

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons olive or canola oil

Pinch of salt

6 ears sweet corn

Directions

  1. In a small bowl combine melted butter, oil and salt; stir well.
  2. Without removing husks, pull back corn husks and remove silk. Brush kernels with butter mixture and replace husks as tightly as possible.
  3. Soak ears in cold water for 1 to 3 hours. Remove corn from water. Place two ears on a large piece of heavy aluminum foil and wrap well. Repeat with remaining corn.
  4. Grill on an uncovered grill over medium-high heat for 15 to 20 minutes, turning once. Remove foil and place corn directly on grill. Cook 5 minutes or until husks are charred, turning frequently.
  5. Serve with additional butter and salt, if desired.
