By
Test Kitchen
Summer 2023
Bright and creamy lemon and poppy seed paletas, frozen to perfection and served with a drizzle of dulce de leche or caramel sauce for a refreshing and indulgent dessert.

Recipe Information

Total Time:
Yield:
10 paletas

Ingredients

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1½ cups whole milk

½ cup fresh lemon juice

2 teaspoons poppy seeds

Dulce de leche sauce or sea salt caramel dessert sauce, for serving

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, lemon juice and poppy seeds until combined.
  2. Pour mixture into 10 (3-ounce) pop molds. Cover with lid.* Insert craft sticks. Freeze for 4 hours or until firm.
  3. To unmold paletas, dip molds into cool water until paletas loosen from molds. Gently remove paletas from molds and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze at least 10 minutes or lightly cover with plastic wrap and store in freezer until ready to serve.
  4. To serve, drizzle dulce de leche or caramel sauce onto paletas, if desired.

*If pop molds have individual lids with attached sticks, cover molds with foil. Cut small slits in foil and insert craft sticks into each pop.
